Burritos & Ice Cream

IMG_6092

Today felt like one of the smoothest ministry days so far. We definitely got into the groove of things and stepped into the roles that were needed throughout the day. It was encouraging to see everyone participating and working alongside the church. Relationships are definitely starting to form between our group and the church we are working with! We were not only excited to see a few new faces coming to VBS today but we were also excited to see the familiar faces becoming more comfortable with us as well. Talking to one of the moms, we agreed that both groups feel extremely encouraged when we come together.

Some of the activities today were a bit different from yesterdays. Instead of playing soccer we decided to bring a ball and a bat and teach the kids how to play a classic game of baseball! While about half the team was engaged in that, a part of our team was able to clean up garbage in the area where they play soccer. It definitely looked better and the kids were able to play in a safer and cleaner environment. The other game we played seemed to go over well with our Mexican friends – the balloon game! It was a new game for them and it seemed to go over very well!

During our meeting, today, Cassidy Hall and Ethan Verity shared their testimonies. It was inspiring to hear one of the youth from their church, a girl named Taysha also share her testimony. Pastor Marco’s son, Marco, also shared his talents with us. He led us in worship which was a new addition to the day. We were able to recognize the songs in Spanish and sing along with him in English!

We were given two extra special treats today. Our first treat came from Pastor Marco’s family…BURRITOS!! Our second treat was given from the Agua Viva staff…ICE CREAM!!

All in all, “it was a fun day filled with smiles and laughter” – Anonymous (for unknown reasons).
